COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of October 27, 2022

COVID-19

  • The regional incidence rate was 375 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, decreasing for the first time since S33-2022. The positivity rate (19.4%) and the testing rate followed the same trend.

  • The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.

  • Use of primary care and emergency services for “suspected COVID-19” was decreasing.

  • The number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to critical care units related to COVID-19 were decreasing. The number of in-hospital deaths remained stable.

  • The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS was decreasing.

Monkeypox

  • From mid-May through October 25, 2022, 2,496 confirmed cases of monkeypox were recorded in Île-de-France (region of residence).
