COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of August 18, 2022

In week 32 in Île-de-France, SARS-CoV-2 circulation continued to decline, confirming the downward trend in the epidemic observed over the past 5 weeks.
The regional incidence rate stood at 130 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and was declining for the fifth consecutive week, reaching a level last seen in early November 2021. The testing rate followed the same trend.
The positivity rate (11.4%) declined for the fifth consecutive week.
The BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages of the Omicron variant have been predominant in Île-de-France for the past 8 weeks, and their proportion continued to rise.

The number of new hospitalizations, the number of new admissions to intensive care, and the number of hospital deaths related to COVID-19 were decreasing.
The number of new COVID-19 cases reported by healthcare facilities remained stable, while the total number of new reported cases was decreasing.
