Key bridges

Bronchiolitis

  • Among children under one year of age, there was an increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis, accompanied by an increase in visits followed by hospitalization compared to week 43. Children under one year of age accounted for 96% of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis among children under two years of age and 99% of visits followed by hospitalization.

  • Increase in calls to SOS Médecins for bronchiolitis among children under two years of age and under one year of age.

Influenza

  • In hospitals, activity levels related to influenza-like illness remained low in week 44, with indicators showing a slight increase compared to week 43.

  • In the community, demand for care for influenza-like illness remained stable at SOS Médecins and within the Sentinelles network during the second week of the fall break (All Saints’ Day).

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Increase in the number of SOS Médecins visits for acute gastroenteritis among children under 15 and stabilization among adults.

  • Increase in emergency department visits and visits followed by hospitalization for acute gastroenteritis across all age groups.

  • Indicators remained stable in the Sentinelles network.

  • Low activity levels at SOS Médecins clinics and in hospital emergency departments.

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • Since May 1, 499 imported cases of arboviruses transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes have been identified and investigated in the Île-de-France region: 485 cases of dengue, 10 cases of chikungunya, 3 cases of Zika, and 1 case of co-infection (dengue + chikungunya). Other cases are currently under investigation.

  • The first confirmed case of chikungunya was documented in Île-de-France in late July and classified as locally acquired, as it met the definition criteria. No other cases have been detected.
