Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of December 8, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In week 48, SARS-CoV-2 circulation continued to increase at the regional level. Virological indicators (calculated based on antigen tests alone and all tests) were on the rise, as were indicators of pre-hospital care utilization (SOS-Médecins and emergency departments). A renewed increase in hospital indicators (all departments and critical care units) was also observed.

Bronchiolitis

  • Epidemic phase.

  • Although activity levels remain very high, there was a decrease in outpatient care utilization and a slight increase in pre-hospital care, while hospitalizations following visits to the emergency department tended to stabilize.

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses

  • Epidemic phase.

  • Once again this week, the use of healthcare services for influenza-like illness rose sharply in Normandy. The positivity rate for influenza viruses isolated by the Caen and Rouen university hospitals rose from 3.6% in week 47 to 6.1% in week 48.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Seekings of care in community settings and hospitals began to rise again in Week 48, though activity remained at a low level.
