Health Surveillance of Bronchiolitis in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of January 9, 2014.

Situation in Lower Normandy and Upper Normandy

A general review of regional indicators shows that an initial peak in the seasonal bronchiolitis epidemic among children under 2 years of age was reached in the Lower Normandy and Upper Normandy regions in both hospital settings (week 2013-51) and outpatient clinics (week 2013-49). However, the proportion of cases related to bronchiolitis remained at high levels in week 2013-01 in hospital emergency departments. Regarding SOS Médecins clinics, after declining in week 2013-49, the proportion of cases related to bronchiolitis began to rise again starting in week 2013-50. The current trend is comparable to that observed at the national level. Activity related to bronchiolitis is expected to decrease in the coming weeks, consistent with what is typically observed in both regions at this time of year during previous epidemic seasons.
