Influenza Surveillance in Upper and Lower Normandy. Update as of November 22, 2012.

National Situation

According to Inserm’s Sentinelles network, the incidence of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was estimated at 41 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in mainland France, below the epidemic threshold (146 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in week 2012-46). Flu activity remains low.

According to the Grog network of physicians, influenza A and B viruses, although not very active in week 2012-46, are present in mainland France. All three influenza types and subtypes have been detected (A(H1N1), A(H3N2), and B). Activity of acute respiratory infections (ARI) remains low, although activity of the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has increased.

Observations made during week 2012-46 show that the seasonal influenza epidemic has not yet begun in mainland France.
