COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Nouvelle-Aquitaine as of December 15, 2022

Key Points

In week 49 of 2022, SARS-CoV-2 circulation appears to be stabilizing in the region. Incidence and testing rates estimated from antigen tests are stable after three consecutive weeks of increases, and the positivity rate is declining. However, the effective R estimated from testing data remains significantly above 1 (effective R = 1.11 as of December 13), and hospital indicators continue to rise in the general hospital sector.

Virological indicators are rising slightly in Charente-Maritime and Lot-et-Garonne. In the region’s other departments, viral circulation has been relatively stable over the past week.

Viral circulation appears to be slowing among young people under 20, while virological indicators are rising among those aged 60–89. In other age groups, viral circulation has remained relatively stable.
