MERS-CoV Case Definition Updated on June 11, 2015A new advisory from the High Council for Public Health dated April 24, 2015, regarding the definition and classification of possible and confirmed cases of MERS-CoV infection, as well as the precautions to be taken when caring for these patients, was recently published.Regarding the case definition, on a transitional basis and in light of the epidemiological situation in South Korea, any person who has worked at or visited a healthcare facility in South Korea and who has developed an acute respiratory infection, regardless of its severity, within 14 days of their last contact with that facility, must also be considered a possible MERS-CoV case. Any person who developed ARDS within 14 days of returning from South Korea will also be considered a possible case.
