Health Surveillance of Arboviral Diseases in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region. 2017 Report.

Key Points

  • 79 reports received in 2017, a 60% decrease compared to 2016;

  • An average of 2.5 reports per week (min=0; max=7);

  • Of the 79 reports, 22 cases were confirmed or considered probable (28%) for dengue, chikungunya, and Zika infection;

  • Of the 22 confirmed/probable cases, all were imported cases;

  • Of the 22 confirmed/probable cases, 16 were dengue cases, 4 were Zika infections, 1 was chikungunya, and 1 was a dengue-Zika coinfection;

  • The majority of reports came from Gironde (68 reports, 86%);

  • No reports and no cases in Dordogne;

  • 18, or 23% of the reports received, came from the laboratory network’s “catch-up” system;

  • 29 surveys were conducted by mosquito control operators, including 26 for viremic cases reported in the region.
