Measles Outbreak in 2011 Following the third major wave of the outbreak in the first half of 2011, which peaked in March, measles cases are now clearly on the decline in France. For the first 11 months of 2011, nearly 15,000 cases were reported, of which 16 developed neurological complications, 649 developed severe pneumonia, and 6 died.
