Public Health Bulletin on Arboviruses in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Summary of the 2021 Season.

Key Points

From May 1 to November 30, 2021, out of 24 reported cases, 22 were confirmed, all of which were imported:

  • 21 imported cases of dengue (17 of whom had visited Réunion);

  • 1 imported case of chikungunya;

  • No cases of Zika.

The dengue cases were identified in 6 departments in the region: Charente-Maritime, Gironde, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, and Haute-Vienne. For 17 of the 22 confirmed or probable cases reported in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a mosquito control operator was called in.

In total, 38 investigations were conducted regarding confirmed or probable cases residing in or visiting the region, resulting in two larvicidal treatments (in Corrèze and Gironde) and 14 adulticidal treatments (in Corrèze, Gironde, and Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
