Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of December 12, 2023.
Key Points
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.
From May 1 to November 30, 2023, the following cases were identified:
Nationally: 1,979 imported cases of dengue, 29 imported cases of chikungunya, 9 imported cases of Zika, and 43 locally transmitted cases of dengue.
In Occitanie, 212 imported cases of dengue, 3 imported cases of chikungunya, and 22 locally acquired cases of dengue spread across 3 transmission clusters. No cases of Zika were identified.
To limit the risk of local transmission, 320 entomological surveys and 234 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.
The surveillance season ended on November 30.
