Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of May 31, 2024.

Key Points

  • From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • In Occitanie, from May 1 to 28, 2024, 17 imported cases of dengue were identified.

  • To limit the risk of local transmission, 33 entomological surveys and 6 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of the cases.

  • Nationwide, from May 1 to 28, 2024, the following were identified:

    • 337 imported cases of dengue, 67% of which were returning from Guadeloupe or Martinique

    • 1 imported case of chikungunya

    • No imported cases of Zika

  • Since the beginning of the year, there has been particularly high import pressure, linked to the ongoing circulation of the dengue virus in Martinique and Guadeloupe.
