Health Monitoring in the Occitanie Region. Update as of March 9, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Oscour® Network: visits for suspected COVID-19 remained relatively stable and at a low level since late January (67 emergency room visits, or 24 visits per 10,000 consultations). At the regional level and across all age groups, the weekly numbers of new hospitalizations and new admissions to critical care continued to decline gradually in week 09-2023 (91 versus 97 and 11 versus 15, respectively; data not yet consolidated for week 09-2023).

  • SOS Médecins Network: cases involving suspected or confirmed COVID-19 remained stable and at a low level (20 cases, 55 cases per 10,000 consultations)

Influenza

  • Following the second wave of the epidemic in week 05-2023, indicators are declining in emergency medicine, within SOS associations, and within the Sentinelles physician network. The proportion of type B viruses has stabilized at 61%.

  • Oscour® Network: Consultations for influenza/influenza-like illness across all age groups were down compared to the previous week in all age groups and in every department. In week 09-2023, 283 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 1.0% of all visits (511 visits in week 08-2023). The hospitalization rate following an emergency department visit for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness was 13.1% (0.6% of all hospitalizations).

  • SOS Médecins Network: procedures for all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were down compared to the previous week. In week 09-2023, 395 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 10.8% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (569 procedures in week 08-2023).

Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea

  • Low activity in private practice (SOS Médecins) and low in hospital settings (Oscour® network).

Bronchiolitis

  • Preliminary assessment: The 2022–2023 epidemic was particularly long, with 14 epidemic weeks for the Occitanie region (compared to 8 weeks during pre-COVID-19 years) and a peak observed in week 48 of 2022. Occitanie is now in the green zone (epidemic over) given the low level of RSV circulation. Indicators related to bronchiolitis will no longer be presented in future Epidemiological Updates.
