Health Surveillance of Arboviral Diseases in the Occitanie Region. Epidemiological Update as of December 3, 2021.

Key Points

From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France, where the vector mosquito, Aedes albopictus, is expanding its range.

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2021, 24 imported cases of dengue have been confirmed. No cases of chikungunya or Zika have been identified.

Nationally, from May 1 to December 3, 2021, the following were confirmed:

  • 164 imported cases of dengue, including 105 from Réunion

  • 3 imported cases of chikungunya

  • 0 imported cases of Zika

Two dengue outbreaks (including one in Occitanie) were identified in 2021. The surveillance season ended on November 30. You will find a summary of the 2021 season on page 2.
