Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of January 9, 2015.

Key Points

  • Bronchiolitis: In the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the epidemic peak had still not been reached in week 2015-01. While activity related to this illness is decreasing among the region’s SOS Médecins associations (incomplete data), visits to emergency departments continue to rise. In France, week 2015-01 saw a slight decrease in emergency room visits for bronchiolitis across the country (-5%).

  • Bronchitis: Use of emergency departments and SOS Médecins associations is relatively stable but remains at a high level, both in the LR region and across France.

  • Gastroenteritis: All indicators monitored for the LR region show active circulation of viruses associated with gastroenteritis. In France, visits to emergency rooms and SOS Médecins associations are high and increasing week by week, while the Sentinelles network has not yet reported that the national epidemic threshold has been exceeded.

  • Flu: circulation of influenza viruses remains very moderate in Languedoc-Roussillon.
