HIV Public Health Bulletin for Occitanie. December 2020.

Key Points

HIV/AIDS

  • Laboratory HIV Testing: Occitanie ranks fourth among metropolitan regions (excluding Île-de-France) with the lowest positivity rates. Laboratory participation in Occitanie remains too low; greater participation is needed to obtain an accurate estimate of the completeness of the HIV diagnosis.

  • HIV Diagnosis: In 2019, the number of HIV diagnoses in Occitanie involved a higher proportion of MSM and a lower proportion of heterosexuals, with more primary infections and earlier diagnoses. There are more early diagnoses in Hérault and Pyrénées-Orientales and more late diagnoses in Haute-Garonne and Gard. Departmental disparities are observed: in Haute-Garonne, more women, more people born abroad, and more heterosexual intercourse; in Hérault, more MSM and early diagnoses; in Gard, more people aged 50 and older; and in Pyrénées-Orientales, more men, more people born in France, and more people who inject drugs.

  • Corevih active registry: 9,211 patients, of whom 98.3% are on treatment and 95.5% have an undetectable viral load

  • Use of e-do: 96% of discharge orders are processed electronically

Prevention

Due to the heterogeneity of the epidemiology within the Occitanie region, it is necessary to tailor prevention messages to different profiles.
