Key Points

Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visits Indicators:

  • Among adults (18 years and older), mental health issues did not show any particular trend in January and February 2023, but an increase was noted the following month, in March. Among children (under 18 years old), there was a sharp increase in monthly numbers throughout the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarters of previous years.

  • An increase in suicidal acts in March 2023 compared to the first two months of the year, with a more pronounced trend among 18- to 24-year-olds, where levels reached some of the highest recorded over the four years analyzed, across all months.

  • A sharp increase in emergency department visits for suicidal ideation in early 2023 compared to the first quarters of previous years, particularly among 11- to 17-year-olds, who accounted for nearly one-third of emergency department visits in the first quarter.

  • Increase in visits for mood disorders across all age groups, with a notable rise among 18- to 24-year-olds, where the observed figures are significantly higher than in the first quarters of previous years.

  • An increase in anxiety disorders in March 2023 compared to the first two months of the year, a trend also observed among 11- to 14-year-olds.
