Key Points

  • Indicators related to suicide risk remained stable in 2020 but increased in 2021 among individuals treated in emergency departments: suicidal ideation among adults and children, and suicide attempts among children.

  • Psychological disorders among adults treated in emergency departments were less common in 2021 and 2020 than in 2019 and 2018 but increased in 2021 among children (except in April).

  • SOS Médecins activity related to the treatment of anxiety remained high throughout 2020, starting with the first lockdown; levels varied in 2021, with high rates in January, February, and May 2021.

  • A decline in several indicators was observed during the lockdown months (March–April and November 2020, April 2021): psychological disorders, suicidal behavior, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders.

  • A slight increase in indicators of anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders among respondents to Wave 27 of the Coviprev survey.
