Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of January 8, 2016.
Key Points
Bronchiolitis: The outbreak remains very active, but the number of cases is trending downward. The peak of the outbreak was reached in week 2015-52 in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, as in most regions.
Bronchitis: Use of SOS Médecins clinics for bronchitis continues to rise in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and across France. Visits to emergency departments decreased in week 2015-53 in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, but not in France.
Asthma: A sharp decrease in emergency room visits for asthma in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Many asthma diagnoses are being made by doctors at the Nîmes and Perpignan associations.
Pneumonia: Emergency room visits are increasing in the LR region. The level is fairly similar to that observed last year during the same period. Among emergency room visits, more than half of the patients are hospitalized.
Gastroenteritis: high activity in private practice (SOS Médecins associations in Nîmes and Perpignan) and more moderate in emergency departments.
Flu: Flu activity remains low in all French regions and across Europe.
