Key Points

• Vector-borne diseases: 68 reports of suspected cases of chikungunya or dengue have been received since May 1, 2015. Only one imported case of dengue (contracted during travel to an endemic area) has been confirmed. For this season, no locally acquired cases have been diagnosed to date in the region.

• Hospital and medical activity in the region: Activity at the region’s emergency departments and among SOS Médecins associations is consistent with what is typically observed at this time of year. The proportion of emergency department visits by people not usually residing in the region is comparable to that of previous years (data to be consolidated).

• Heatwave and health alert system: 3 of the 5 departments have been placed under a yellow alert (heat advisory) for varying durations. No department in the region has been placed under an orange heatwave alert since the start of summer. To date, the monitored indicators show no particular trend.
