Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of June 19, 2015.

Key Points

  • Chikungunya/Dengue Surveillance: 30 reports of suspected cases of chikungunya or dengue have been received since May 1, 2015. Only one imported case of dengue (contracted during travel to an endemic area) has been confirmed. For this season, no locally acquired cases have been diagnosed to date in the region.

  • Hospital and medical activity in the region: data from private practice and hospitals fall within the usual range for this time of year. For several weeks now, nearly 8% of emergency room visits have involved people who do not usually reside in Languedoc-Roussillon, a proportion that is expected to rise further in the coming weeks due to summer vacation.

  • Gastroenteritis: no particular trend in the Languedoc-Roussillon region regarding the monitored indicators.

  • Heat Wave and Health Alert System: all departments in the region are at the seasonal watch level (green weather alert for heat wave risk).
