Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of October 12, 2012
Key Points:
Surveillance of vector-borne diseases: Over the past 15 days, 5 new reports of suspected cases have been received through the epidemiological surveillance system. To date, no cases of local transmission of chikungunya or dengue have been detected in Languedoc-Roussillon.
Respiratory diseasesPneumonia: low and relatively stable activity in the region, but increasing in France.Bronchiolitis: low activity in the region, moderate and increasing in France; see the InVS national bulletin dated 10/09/12.Bronchitis: moderate increase in emergency room visits and higher activity among SOS Médecins associations related to this disease, both regionally and nationally. Asthma: activity equivalent to previous years for emergency rooms and slightly higher for SOS Médecins associations in the region and in France.
Gastroenteritis Surveillance: Low activity in regional emergency departments and an increase in reasons for SOS calls (less evident trend for diagnoses). At the national level, this increase in reasons for calls and SOS Médecin diagnoses is also observed. However, data from the Inserm Sentinelles network remain below the epidemic threshold for both geographic levels.
