Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of August 29, 2022

Key Points

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2022, 28 imported cases of dengue have been confirmed. Most of the affected individuals had returned from Cuba (11), Réunion (4), Brazil (3), and Mexico (3). Two imported cases of Zika have been identified (from Thailand). No cases of chikungunya have been identified.

To limit the risk of local transmission, 46 entomological surveys and 35 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to August 26, 2022, the following were confirmed:

  • 123 imported cases of dengue,

  • 8 imported cases of chikungunya,

  • 2 imported cases of Zika.

Two unrelated local transmission chains have occurred in the region since the start of surveillance, involving 1 case in department 66 (see PE of 08/08/2022) and 2 cases in department 65 (investigations ongoing).
