On Monday, June 27, 2005, around 3:00 a.m., a fire broke out in a building at the SBM Formulation plant in Béziers. The plant formulates, packages, and stores plant protection products. It is classified as "Seveso 2." The building destroyed by the fire was used for the packaging and storage of non-flammable solid products. A total of 1,720 tons of products were destroyed in the fire.
