Cholera in Mayotte. Update as of July 3, 2024.

Key Points

  • Between June 26 and July 2, 2024, four cases of cholera were reported in Mayotte, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the department since March 18, 2024, to 214 (209 confirmed cases and 5 probable cases);

  • of these, 193 were locally acquired and 21 were imported cases;

  • an outbreak is currently active in the municipality of Mamoudzou: Passamainty (36 cases since March 18, 2024);

  • No new cases of cholera have been reported in Koungou since June 6, 2024;

  • 14 severe cases requiring hospitalization in intensive care and 2 deaths among confirmed cases have been recorded.
