Dengue Situation in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of April 17, 2012.

Summary of the epidemiological situation

Over the past two weeks, three cases of dengue fever have been detected: one additional case in the western part of the island, and two cases in Saint-Denis. Viral circulation is likely to intensify because the population’s immunity rate is very low and the current conditions are particularly favorable for the vector. Transition to Alert Level 2B: “Identification of several geographically distinct clusters of locally acquired cases.”

Key points:

  • 10 locally acquired cases in the west and north

  • Move to Alert Level 2B
