Dengue Situation in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of March 21, 2013.

Epidemiological Situation

The occurrence of two locally acquired cases of dengue fever among residents of Le Tampon has revealed the establishment of a local transmission chain in the municipality of Le Tampon. Viral circulation is likely to intensify because the immunity rate among the population of Réunion is very low, the dengue virus is circulating in the regional exchange zone, and the current period is particularly favorable for the vector. In light of this situation, the ARS has decided to raise the alert level to 2A: "Identification of a cluster of locally acquired cases."
