Dengue Surveillance in Mayotte. Update as of April 30, 2020.

Key Points

  • 3,870 cases of dengue fever have been reported since the start of the outbreak, including 3,684 confirmed cases in 2020.

  • A decrease in confirmed cases has been observed since S11; this is due to a significant underestimation (linked to the consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic) and does not reflect the epidemiological reality.

  • Syndromic surveillance does not allow us to confirm that the peak has been reached.

  • The entire territory is affected by viral circulation.

  • Only the DENV-1 serotype is circulating, but there is a risk of other serotypes being imported from the Indian Ocean region

  • Weather conditions remain favorable for mosquito proliferation
