Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of May 22, 2018.
Epidemiological Situation
Since the beginning of 2018, 3,416 biologically confirmed or probable cases of dengue have been reported by private and hospital laboratories in Réunion.The only serotype identified in 2018 is DENV-2 (847 genotypes). This situation follows an unusual low-level viral circulation during 2017, when persistent transmission was observed during the southern winter.
In week S2018-19 (May 7–13):
387 probable or confirmed cases of dengue were diagnosed through laboratory testing, based on the date of symptom onset.
Confirmed and probable cases were mainly located: - In the west: Bois de Nèfles and La Plaine (88 cases), St-Paul, Gare routière and Etang (63 cases), Le Port (27 cases), La Possession (12 cases), Le Guillaume (12 cases), St-Gilles-les-Bains (39 cases), St-Leu (40 cases), St-Gilles-les-Hauts (21 cases), La Saline (5 cases), Trois Bassins (4 cases), - In the south: Ravine des Cabris (20 cases), St-Pierre (11 cases), Etang Salé (6 cases), St Louis (18 cases), Le Tampon (2 cases), St Joseph (4 cases), and Avirons (1 case) ,- In the north: Sainte Clotilde (2 cases), Saint Denis (5 cases), and La Montagne (3 cases).
