Key points

Malaria

  • The number of reported cases was 29 in the first half of the year, which is equivalent to the mid-year figure for 2023 (31 cases).

  • The increase in the number of cases was most pronounced in the first quarter of 2024. Most of these cases were reported upon return from the Comoros.

COVID-19

  • Rise in hospital surveillance indicators (emergency room visits and hospitalizations).

  • Virological data from the CHU microbiology laboratory (CNR Arbovirus Associé, CNR Virus respiratoires Associé, Réunion) show a rising COVID-19 positivity rate (TP) in week 27 to 13%.

Acute Respiratory Infection

  • Increase in hospitalizations for ARI as well as for influenza-like illness.
