Epidemiological Situation

Starting in week 42, consultations for influenza-like illness among doctors in the sentinel network have been steadily declining and remain below the epidemic threshold. Conversely, emergency department visits for influenza-like illness, despite a steady decline starting in week 43, remain above the epidemic threshold.Since the start of the seasonal flu epidemic, 26 severe cases have been reported, representing 62% of all severe cases reported since January 1, 2018 (n=42). The flu epidemic in Réunion is in a declining phase, both in terms of outpatient visits and emergency room visits.
