Surveillance of Rift Valley Fever in Mayotte. Epidemiological update as of April 12, 2019.

Epidemiological Situation

Between November 22, 2018, and April 11, 2019, 117 cases of RVF were confirmed by the CHM laboratory, including only 3 cases reported in the last 2 weeks. The outbreak is in a declining phase. Since November 22, 2018, 101 cases have been investigated by the Vector Control Service (LAV) and the Health Surveillance, Alert, and Management Unit (CVAGS) of the ARS OI, as well as the Indian Ocean Regional Intervention Unit of Santé publique France (Cire OI) in Mayotte: - 74 cases (73%) had direct or indirect contact with livestock - 30 cases reported consuming raw or curdled milk - 20 cases reported no exposure. The majority (58%) of the identified cases reside in municipalities in the central-western part of the island, primarily in Chiconi, Tsingoni, and Ouangani.
