Surveillance of Rift Valley Fever in Mayotte. Epidemiological update as of May 3, 2019.

Epidemiological Situation

Between November 22, 2018, and May 3, 2019, 129 cases of RVF were confirmed by the CHM laboratory. Since November 22, 2018, 112 cases have been investigated by the Vector Control Unit (LAV) and the Health Surveillance, Alert, and Management Unit (CVAGS) of the ARS OI, as well as the Regional Public Health France Unit in Mayotte (Mayotte Unit): - 86 cases (77%) had direct or indirect contact with farm animals - 35 cases reported consuming raw milk or curd - 18 cases reported no exposure. 74% of the identified cases reside in municipalities in the central-western and northern parts of the island, primarily in Chiconi, Tsingoni, Ouangani, Mtsangamouji, and Bandraboua.
