Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 11, 2012
Over the past week in the region:
A major bronchiolitis outbreak is currently underway, with: - a sharp increase in the number of emergency room visits by infants under one year of age across the region over the past three weeks; - an increase in bronchiolitis diagnoses made by emergency room physicians at Nantes University Hospital and by the two SOS Médecin associations. However, the level observed last year has not yet been reached. - active circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) in the region.
The circulation of influenza viruses remains very low, with only one virus isolated last week at the Nantes University Hospital.
