Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 26, 2012

Over the past week in the region:

The bronchiolitis outbreak has plateaued, with:

  • a high volume of emergency room visits by infants under one year of age across the region over the past five weeks;

  • a slight decrease in bronchiolitis diagnoses made by emergency room physicians at Nantes University Hospital and by the two SOS Médecins associations.

A marked increase in influenza diagnoses made by the two SOS Médecins associations, with a new severe case of influenza hospitalized in the intensive care unit in the region.

The gastroenteritis epidemic continues, with a still high number of diagnoses made by the two SOS Médecins associations in the region, and an increase in outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis in nursing homes in the region since early December.
