Epidemiological Surveillance in Corsica. Update as of April 14, 2022.

COVID-19

In S14, the increase in viral circulation observed over the past several weeks appears to be slowing down. Nevertheless, indicators remain at a high level.

Flu

  • Fourth week of the epidemic.

  • Emergency departments - Sixty-three visits related to flu-like illness were recorded in emergency departments in Week 14, representing 3.3% of total emergency department visits, a slight increase compared to the previous week (3.1%). Ten hospitalizations were recorded in Week 14, compared to 4 the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins - Two hundred ten consultations for flu-like symptoms were conducted by SOS Médecins in Week 14, representing 12.2% of total activity. This proportion is slightly lower than the previous week but has remained generally stable over the past five weeks.

  • Sentinelles Network - In Week 14, the incidence rate for influenza-like illnesses, not yet finalized, is 306 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [139; 473]). In Week 13, this rate was 373 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [324; 512]).

  • Surveillance of influenza/COVID-19 cases admitted to intensive care - Since January 2020, 152 severe cases of influenza/COVID-19 in intensive care have been reported, including 1 case of influenza, hospitalized at Bastia General Hospital in Week 02. No new cases have been reported since last week’s update.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low activity.

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to gastroenteritis in Week 14 increased compared to the previous week. It accounted for 2.7% of emergency department activity (vs. 1.5% the previous week).

  • SOS Médecins - Activity at the SOS Médecins association related to gastroenteritis in Week 14 decreased very slightly compared to the previous week. It accounted for 1.6% of the association’s total activity (vs. 1.8% the previous week).

  • Réseau Sentinelles - In Week 14, the incidence rate was 137 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [48; 226]). In Week 13, this rate was 67 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [18; 116]).
