Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 13, the trend in viral circulation shows a smaller increase than the previous week, although circulation remains very high.

Regional incidence and positivity rates are rising (1,980 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 13, a 13% increase, and 30.9%, a 1.4 percentage point increase). The increase in the testing rate is smaller than that of the incidence rate (6,402 per 100,000 inhabitants, a 8% increase).

The number of active conventional hospitalizations is rising (93 hospitalizations as of April 3 vs. 80 on March 27), as is the number in intensive care (10 hospitalizations on April 3 vs. 7 on March 27).

Flu

  • Third week of the epidemic.

  • Emergency departments - Fifty-five visits related to flu-like illness were recorded in emergency departments in Week 13, representing 3.1% of total emergency department visits, stable compared to the previous week (3.0%). Four hospitalizations were recorded in Week 13, compared to 3 the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins - Two hundred thirty-three consultations for influenza-like illness were conducted by SOS Médecins in Week 13, representing 13.3% of total activity. This proportion has remained generally stable over the past 3 weeks.

  • Sentinelles Network - In Week 13, the incidence rate for influenza-like illnesses, not yet finalized, is 286 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [155; 417]). In Week 12, this rate was 430 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [305; 555]).

  • Surveillance of influenza/COVID-19 cases admitted to intensive care - Since January 2020, 152 severe cases of influenza/COVID-19 in intensive care have been reported, including 1 case of influenza, hospitalized at Bastia General Hospital in S02. No new cases have been reported since last week’s update.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Low activity

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to gastroenteritis in Week 13 continues to decline compared to the previous week. It accounts for 1.5% of emergency department activity (vs. 1.9% the previous week)

  • SOS Médecins - Activity at the SOS Médecins association related to gastroenteritis in Week 13 is down compared to the previous week. It accounts for 1.8% of the association’s total activity (vs. 2.4% the previous week)

  • Réseau Sentinelles - In Week 13, the incidence rate is 47 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [2; 92]). In Week 12, this rate was 37 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [3; 71]).
