Key Points

COVID-19

A sharp increase in viral circulation as measured by biological indicators. An increase or stabilization in most other indicators tracked as part of surveillance, with the exception of in-hospital mortality from COVID-19 cases (excluding incidental COVID cases), which continues to decline.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

Since May 1, surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika cases has identified 5 imported dengue cases in the region: 2 from Cuba, 1 from Costa Rica, 1 from Thailand, and 1 from Réunion.

Pollen

The risk of allergies is high in the region, mainly due to grass pollen.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • Emergency departments:

    • Emergency room activity for conditions potentially related to the heat is on the rise

    • Increase in the proportion of emergency room visits for fainting spells

  • SOS Médecins: The proportion of consultations with SOS Médecins for diagnoses of “heatstroke and dehydration” is on the rise.
