Measles: On the Path to Elimination? Editorial

France is facing a resurgence of measles outbreaks even as it strives to meet the WHO’s goal of eliminating the disease by 2010. To achieve this goal, the DGS has established a working group tasked with proposing a national plan for the elimination of measles. Three main priorities have been identified: establishing reliable surveillance systems, better controlling the transmission of the virus, and improving vaccination coverage.
