Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update for February 15, 2022.

Key Points

  • Nationally, based on INSEE data, the number of deaths from all causes has stabilized and remains significantly higher than expected during the first five weeks of 2022. The number of electronically certified deaths decreased slightly in week 06.

  • Older adults are primarily affected by this excess, particularly those aged 65–84, among whom numbers began to rise again in Week 04 and stabilized in Week 05.

  • An excess of deaths was observed in 6 metropolitan regions in Week 03, 10 regions in Week 04, and 9 regions in Week 05 (unconsolidated week).
