Key Points

  • Nationally, the number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE appears to be beginning to decline but remains elevated in S03-2025 among those aged 65–84 and those aged 85 and older.

  • At the regional level, the number of deaths is stabilizing or beginning to decline in all regions but remains elevated in 8 metropolitan regions in Week 3 of 2025. It becomes elevated in the Pays-de-la-Loire and Réunion in Week 3.

  • The number of reported deaths in Week S04 is decreasing compared to Week S02, particularly among people aged 65 and older and across all types of place of death.
