Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, July 26, 2022
Key Points
Nationally, the number of deaths based on civil registry data (INSEE) increased in weeks 27 and 28 among people over 65 (to be confirmed once data is consolidated).
The rise in mortality in week 27 began in Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, then spread in week 28 to a large part of mainland France (except for Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, and Île-de-France).
The rise in mortality in week 28, which was more pronounced in the western regions, particularly in Brittany, coincided with the heatwave.
