Key Points

  • Nationally, based on INSEE data, the number of deaths from all causes began to decline in Week 06, a trend that continued more markedly in Week 07. The figures remain significantly higher than expected in Week 07. The number of electronically certified deaths declined in Week 08, for the third consecutive week.

  • People aged 65 and older are primarily affected by this excess, but figures also began to decline in weeks 06 and 07.

  • An excess of deaths is observed in 10 metropolitan areas in Week 05, 7 areas in Week 06, and 4 areas in Week 07 (unconsolidated week).
