Mental Health. Monthly Update, July 4, 2023.

Key Points

Week 26:

  • In emergency departments, weeks 23 through 25 were marked by increases in certain indicators. Visits for suicidal ideation rose sharply, particularly among adults and children aged 0–10, reaching levels significantly higher than in previous years. Other indicators were rising to levels comparable to those of previous years, notably: suicide attempts (children aged 0–10 and adults aged 18–64), mood disorders (adolescents aged 11–14), and anxiety disorders (adults aged 25 and older).

  • In the SOS Médecins network, a deterioration in mental health indicators (anxiety and depressive symptoms) was also noted between S23 and S25 among 18- to 24-year-olds.

In both networks during S26, indicators were mostly declining. The levels observed were comparable to those of previous years, with the exception of visits for suicidal ideation among adults and those aged 0–10, and medical procedures for anxiety among those aged 18–24, which remained at high levels.
