Key Points

• In Week 13 (March 24–30, 2025), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable across all age groups compared to the previous week (-1%, or 4,145 fewer visits, and -2%, or 1,454 fewer hospitalizations).

• Among children, there was an increase in visits—albeit from low baseline numbers—for dehydration (+27%, or +25 visits), among children under 2 years old for general malaise (+16%, or +26 visits) and for bronchitis (+23%, or +17 visits), and among 2- to 14-year-olds for conjunctivitis (+27%, or +55 visits). Among the latter, there was also an increase in visits for various neurological conditions (+8%, or +72 visits), driven by headaches and migraines, and for behavioral disorders (+11%, or +71 visits), driven by mood-related symptoms.

• Among adults, there was an increase in visits for asthma attacks (+13%, or +144 visits), as well as for bronchitis (+18%, or +40 visits) and suspected COVID-19 (+12%, or +15 visits) among those aged 75 and older. Among this group, there was also an increase in visits for abdominal pain (+6%, or +93 visits) and vomiting (+6%, or +19 visits). Finally, visits for suicidal behavior increased among those aged 45 and older (+10%, or +47 visits).
