Key Points

  • In Week 34 (August 19–25, 2024), emergency department visits decreased across all age groups compared to the previous week (-6.1%, or -24,045 visits across all ages). Hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.

  • Most seasonal indicators are stable or declining. This is particularly true for pertussis visits across all age groups (-11.7%, or -42 visits across all ages). Visits for suspected COVID-19 infection are stable across all age groups compared to Week 33.

  • Among other indicators, there has been an increase in visits:

    • among children and adults for asthma (+5.9%, or +114 visits across all age groups);

    • among children under 2 years of age for specific abdominal pain (+9.8%, or 59 visits) and for urinary tract infections (+7.1%, or +21 visits).
