Summary

In Week 27 (July 1–7, 2019), overall activity and hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.

Over the past week, most seasonal and non-specific indicators have declined. The sharpest decline was observed for visits related to hyperthermia and heatstroke (-63% across all ages, or -1,236 visits). In terms of activity share, this indicator remains above the levels observed in the week preceding the heat wave. After several weeks of decline among children under 2 years of age, measles cases are on the rise again (+58%, or +7 visits).

Among the most common conditions, there has been an increase in visits for:

• skin and subcutaneous infections (+23%, or +186 visits) and abdominal pain (+16%, or +243 visits) among those under 15;

• ENT infections among those aged 2–14 and 15–74 (+17%, or +1,519 visits);

• urinary tract infections in children under 2 and those aged 15–74 (+13%, or +463 visits).
