Key Points

• In Week 25 (June 19–25, 2023), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable across all age groups.

• Seasonal indicators fluctuate little and remain at low levels.

• Among children aged 2–14, there was an increase in visits related to neurological conditions (+9%, or +86 visits), driven mainly by headaches and seizures, as well as for isolated fever (+6%, or +114 visits), vomiting (+7%, or +58 visits), and, for the fourth consecutive week, viral meningitis (+57%, or +27 visits), at a level higher than those observed since the onset of COVID but comparable to pre-COVID years.

• Among children under 2 years of age, there was an increase in visits related to gastrointestinal conditions (+17%, or +80 visits) and, in small numbers, for chickenpox (+8%) and skin rashes (+6%).

• Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for insect bites across all age groups (+20%, or +241 visits), at levels consistent with previous years.
