Key Points

  • In Week 19 (May 5–11, 2025), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits were stable or declining across all age groups.

  • Among children aged 2–14, there was an increase in visits due to asthma attacks (+7%, or +79 visits).

  • There was also an increase in emergency department visits for neurological problems, both among those aged 2–14 (+12%, or 93 visits) and among those aged 15–74 (+6%, or 400 visits).

  • An increase in visits related to acute digestive conditions was observed: among 2- to 14-year-olds for nonspecific abdominal pain (+9%, or +236 visits), among those aged 75 and older for gastroenteritis (+9%, or +18 visits), and for vomiting (+10%, or +28 visits). Finally, among those aged 15–74, there was also an increase in visits for specific abdominal pain (+8%, or +430 visits).

  • Among those aged 45–64, there was also an increase in visits for suicide attempts (+5%, or +17 visits).

  • Finally, among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for gastroenteritis (+9%, or +18 visits) and for vomiting (+10%, or +28 visits).
